The Birth of Aces Wild
Where did it all start? Many years ago, Brent and Michelle set out on an adventure to make short films. It was a dream that faced numerous obstacles. After a few scripts and many unreliable cast and crew members, it seemed the dream had faded. Then, after some deliberation, the first chapter in the Aces Wild Saga was born. The couple decided to write something that only needed a few actors and a dog. Michelle took on the roles of camera operator and director, while Brent starred as Chase McCoy. Brent's brother, Eric Touchstone, flew in to play the antagonist, Chance Young. Lastly, their dog Diva, AKA Honey, starred in the first short film. The project was completed, but the legend of Chase, Chance, and Honey continued to grow.
During their many critter and photo drives, the story gained momentum until it became too good not to tell. Thus, the first chapter of Aces Wild was written by Michelle Touchstone. However, the first book faced delays due to overtime work and life's complications. After moving from Colorado to an old 1895 adobe house in New Mexico, Brent caught the writing bug. Inspired by their new home, he completed the first Aces Wild book. Brent was quick with words but needed Michelle's help with grammar. Michelle spent her evenings editing and spell-checking Brent's drafts.
Now, with two books under their belt and the final installment of the trilogy in the works, Aces Wild has become a fervent passion project. The story doesn’t end here. In New Mexico, Brent and Michelle met new friends eager to create films, bringing them full circle to their original goal. For Aces Wild - The Storm, Michelle won Best Female Director at the Cannes World Film Festival, with Brent working as her DP. Ironically, the recasting of Chase and Chance couldn’t have gone better. Looking at the thumbnails at the top of this page, you’d be hard-pressed to tell there was a recast. While it becomes clear in the film that the actors are different, the fact that two people with similar features and great acting skills came into Brent and Michelle’s lives lends credence to the idea that Aces Wild is meant for more.
So dive into an adventure like no other in the wild west, where heroes become villains and villains become heroes. This story, full of life's dramas, lessons, and creativity, is one written for the big screen.
